CREATIVE CORNER: Inspire Minds and Reduce Waste

STEM Student with Barrels of Learning Materials

What:
Learn about materials and contribute to K-12 STEM education.

Join us in taking part in helping an organization that is trying to expand the minds of and provide resources for STEM students from grades K through 12. Help add new donations, sort materials, help build stuff and more. We can help them with whatever they've got going on and we feel we can help with!

Trash for Teaching is a non-profit organization and material resource center that promotes recycling, sustainability and creativity in their warehouses and schools all over LA.

Volunteer Project: Help add new donations to the T4T warehouse and interact with shoppers.

Volunteer Role & Responsibilities: L.A. Works volunteers do various tasks around the T4T warehouse, according to their inclination and what we have going on!  We are constantly receiving interesting materials discarded by manufacturers and wholesalers, and you will often find yourself sorting and organizing colorful items that you have never imagined existed.  Other activities include folding fabric, loading and unloading the T4T truck in preparation for events, assisting customers who come to shop for materials in the warehouse, and using power tools to erect or tear down whatever structures we need at the moment.

Requirements:

Any volunteer between the ages of 14 and 17 MUST bring a signed copy of the Volunteer Agreement for Minors by a parent or guardian and all volunteers must bring a creative spirit!
