June 21st: Lift Every Voice

This Sunday, our Assembly will host a panel discussion regarding allyship, privilege and police reform. The experiences for people of color aren't monolithic, thus we are working to make this panel as diverse as possible. We know that the educational burden isn’t on people of color, but rather each of us as individuals, so we are very grateful to the people who are volunteering their time to be with us. Each day we will be announcing a panelist via Facebook and Instagram. To experience the growth needed, we have to first observe, sit with discomfort, unlearn and then relearn! Our goal is that this growth, or at least the skills needed, will be a takeaway from this Assembly.

Our band is bringing some thematic tunes for the day! We will feature an interesting take on “Trying My Best!” It’s sure to be a rewarding morning. It's also Pride Month so bust out your best rainbow garb for this Zoom!

Quick suggestions for Zoom:

- Use your headphones instead of the computer's/phone's speakers; it'll make hearing you easier when we break out into little chat groups.
- If possible, please enable your video feed so we can see you! The speakers will then be able to see your beautiful faces and reactions, and it'll feel more like we are in person. If you have to walk away from or move your camera, please disable it until you get back. And yes, of course we want to see your cats.
- You'll be muted right when you get to the meeting, but worry not, there will be smaller groups during and after the assembly that you can use to talk to your fellow Assemblers.
- In the corner of the box with your face in it, you can choose to hide yourself from your view, so you won't find looking at yourself so distracting. Also, it'll make more space on your screen to see others.
